Halfaya oilfield is an oilfield situated in the southern part of Iraq, 35 km southeast of Amarah City (Capital of the Missan Governorate). The field is a NW-SE trending anticline structure about 30 km long, 10 km wide, with a total area of about 288 km2. It was discovered in 1976 and thereafter significant oil accumulations have been discovered in the formations.
