Scattered rains expected over parts of UAEMotorists warned to expect poor visibility on Sunday and Monday

12/15/2012 2:57:56 PM

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) on Saturday said weather on Sunday will be partly cloudy.

Forecasters expect rain intensity, associated with thunder and lighting, to increase on Sunday morning until Monday noon, especially over the coasts and northern areas.

Forecasters also warned the public from approaching wadis and bodies of water that could overflow.

The mercury will further drop over the next two days as the weather transitions from summer to winter.

“We have had a significant drop in temperature of about 8 to 10 degrees Celsius over the past two to three days, especially over the coastal areas. On Sunday, temperature over the mountain areas will drop to 6 to 7 degrees Celsius just before sunrise,” the forecaster told Gulf News

The temperature change has been brought about by the shamal wind, blowing in the north-westerly direction, characterised by very cold and dry condition.

Winds in general will be moderate to fresh, especially over the sea. It will blow at 15-35 km/h on land, reaching 30-45 km/h over the sea. The sea will be rough to very rough in general due to significant cloud cover and winds. The public is therefore advised not to head out to sea as waves are expected to reach 10 feet offshore.
