Halfaya Oilfiled
Halfaya oilfield is an oilfield situated in the southern part of Iraq, 35 km southeast of Amarah City (Capital of the Missan Governorate). The field is a NW-SE trending anticline structure about 30 km long, 10 km wide, with a total area of about 288 KM². It was discovered in 1976 and thereafter significant oil accumulations have been discovered in the formations.
Stake Holders
The consortium led by PetroChina Company Limited (now PetroChina Halfaya FZCO Iraq Branch) (PetroChina) signed Development and Production Service Contract (DPSC) for the Halfaya Contract Area with Missan Oil Company, the Republic of Iraq, on January 27, 2010. PetroChina, as the Operator, holds 37.5% interest, along with Total E&P Iraq (18.75%), Petronas Carigali (18.75%) and the state partner South Oil Company (25%).
Milestone Achievement
The Consortium finished Phase I Construction in June 2012 and increased production from thousands of barrels per day (bpd) to 100,000 bpd. Meanwhile all the major works on Phase II Construction have been commenced, which will bring the capacity to 200,000 bpd, and preparation works on Phase III Construction for Plateau Production Target of above 535,000 bpd started.
