Recruitment Process
The Human Resources Recruitment Section manages the recruitment process from needs identification to job specification by selecting and interviewing selected candidates.
Line managers/ Department Managers are fully supported by Human Resources throughout the entire recruitment process and each candidate is selected based solely on merit, experience and ability. Depending on the type of job and skills and competencies required, short listed candidates may undergo evaluation processes (written tests, personal interview) to help identify their skills and suitability.
Selected expatriate candidates are required to complete some formalities to process their work permits and employment visas as provided by Iraq and UAE Immigration requirements.
STAGE 1: APPLICATION
Apply to position of interest in the website which is aligned with your educational background, skill set and experience under ‘Current Vacancies’. After your application, you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement confirming receipt of your application together with an application number generated by the system.
STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT
Once your application is submitted into our system, it will be reviewed against the requirements of the position. Due to the large volume of candidate resumes we receive, only the most closely aligned candidates will be contacted directly. If you are not being contacted after 3 months, your application may be considered not successful.
STAGE3: INTERVIEW
The interview process may include a Telephonic interview with a PC Recruiter and/or Line Manager and a face-to-face/ onsite interview. The primary purpose of the interview process is to assess the technical and cultural fit of the candidate with the needs of PC and serves as a way for the candidate to gain a better understanding of the opportunity.
STAGE4: SELECTION
PC sends offer letter to selected candidate and upon acceptance the candidate has to go to a medical examinations and immigration requirements before joining PC.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT CHECKS
We will undertake a number of pre-employment checks such as ID check, Security check and qualification verification.

Our Operations are based at the Halfaya Oilfield in Missan Province, approximately 190 km North of Basrah and 25km South East of Amarah at the Halfaya Oilfield. We have over 200 International employees in Iraq and approximately 300 Iraqi local employees.
International employees coming to work for us in Iraq work on a 28/28 rotation.
Employees work 28 days in country where the hours of work are 12 hours per day.
We offer a competitive salary package made up of basic monthly salary and overseas allowance for each working day in Iraq.
All positions are normally offered on a permanent basis.
Accommodation, meals and transportation during work rotation in Iraq is provided by the Company free of charge.
During the 28 days’ rotation leave, employees will travel back to their point of origin with tickets provided by the company.
Rotation leave is inclusive of all holiday entitlement and payment for this is included in the monthly salary. Employees are covered by the company’s comprehensive Medical and Life Insurance policies.
For local Iraq employees, the normal working week is 5 days, Sunday to Thursday, 40 hours per week from 7am to 4pm with one-hour lunch break.
Depending on the role some local staff work on a rotation basis.

PetroChina Halfaya FZCO Iraq Branch has an office located in Dubai Internet City, employing over 140 International staff to provide support to the Operations in Iraq.
The normal working week is five days, Sunday to Thursday, 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm with one-hour lunch break.
